Mike and Angelo S3E8 (1991) - FULL EPISODE

The Form Master. Mike's in trouble at school, but perhaps he can get Angelo to take the phone call from his teacher and pretend to be Rita. There's no way his mother could possibly find out, after all. This episode was originally broadcast on Wednesday, 9th January, 1991. Anyone who's been keeping up with the Polterguests uploads on this channel may spot a couple of familiar elements in this one. Firstly, Mr Doyle is played by Michael Bertenshaw, who showed up as T-Bag's wife in Hee Haw Hotel. (He was also in a couple of episodes of Spatz, by the way.) More obviously, though, the central plot was recycled to a degree in Face the Music and Dance, although I have to say that they toned it down a fair bit in the intervening eight years. I don't wish to make light of anything, but Angelo gets dangerously close to earning himself a MeToo hashtag at one point! At least, that's how it looks through today's eyes - I strongly suspect that the inspiration for *that* scene was actually a Looney Tunes cartoon or two, rather than anything more sinister. (I'm talking about when Bugs Bunny dresses up as a woman rather than Pepe Le Pew.) And what about Rita's tactics to combat it all?! I certainly wasn't expecting that. Shall we just say it's of its time and leap out of this minefield, post-haste? On the plus side, I really liked the slower ceiling moments, as Mike pours out his problems and Angelo plays the role of guardian angel. It's good to take a breath every now and then and escape the madness. There's a nice chemistry between the two actors, considering this is the only full series they did together. Stay tuned at the beginning and end for some Children's ITV continuity featuring Jeanne Downs and Scally, with special guest Michaela Strachan. There's also a full ad break at the start.
