Mike and Angelo S8E5 (1996) - FULL EPISODE

Good Morning, Cricklewood. No-one's in the right mood to hold a conversation with Angelo, so he does the only sensible thing he can think of in the circumstances: sets up his own talk radio station. Eventually, an unexpected rivalry develops, leading to a battle of the airwaves. Meanwhile, Mike has a rival of his own to contend with. This episode was originally broadcast on Thursday, 1st February, 1996. I enjoyed this one a lot, mostly because you have no idea where it's going until it gets there. Tim Whitnall is very funny as he cracks out a few of his voices in this one, including an all-purpose Smashie and Nicey type of DJ, plus another impersonation which he probably doesn't do that much any more. Mike's solution to the problem is a very clever one, and didn't go down the more obvious route that suggested itself (doing my best to avoid spoilers). The only three people we actually see on-screen in this episode are Mike, Angelo and Katy, but the callers to the phone-in obviously required guest talent, and that was provided by Brian Shelley and Deborah Grant. Brian has a few minor television credits to his name, such as a vicar in Coupling and Ralph in Black Books, and has done a lot of stage work. Deborah has had recurring roles in the likes of Bread, Bergerac, Peak Practice, and as Tim Vine's mum in Not Going Out. Many thanks to Grant for providing this recording.
