When Things Were Rotten (October 29, 1975)

This ABC sitcom, created by Mel Brooks, centered on Robin Hood and his Merry Men, and was played strictly for laughs. 13 episodes were produced. In the 8th episode, "There Goes The Neighborhood", the Sheriff of Nottingham plots to have Sherwood Forest chopped down for a new housing development. The series was rebroadcast on the A&E cable network in the early '90s, including this episode. Commercials were included. Mel Brooks would revisit a comedic take on Robin Hood in the theatrical film "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" in 1993. Posted for educational and historical purposes only.
