Mike and Angelo S8E2 (1996) - FULL EPISODE
From series: Mike And Angelo (Full Episodes)
Private Angelo. An expensive mishap with a window-cleaning machine proves one expensive mishap too many, so Angelo is 'encouraged' to find a job for himself so that he can pay his own way. Unfortunately, he soon finds himself signed up for the army, and hasn't reckoned on Sergeant Sayers when he tries to back out. This episode was first broadcast on Thursday, 11th January, 1996.
The guest star of this one is Tom Mannion, who was a regular in Emmerdale as Steve Harland and has most recently appeared in Mr Selfridge and Stan Lee's Lucky Man. Looking down his IMDB entry, things like Hustle and Life on Mars are good, but I was most impressed to see Return of the Jedi listed - apparently he was Stardestroyer Captain #2. Topping even that, though, he was a busker in Spatz as well.
There's probably a serious point to be made about the forces portraying too exciting and positive an image of themselves and essentially hoodwinking young people of certain backgrounds into joining, but I'm not going to be the one to make it. Instead, I'll just draw attention to Angelo's endearing naivety, Mike's dedication and ingenuity, and an all-round really good episode with a very strong performance from a one-off character.
Many thanks to Grant for providing this recording.
