Mike and Angelo S5E9 (1993) - FULL EPISODE

Mr Perfect. Things are going great between Mike and girlfriend Melanie, right up until Jeff shows up and sweeps her off her feet. His charm is one thing, but the bigger problem is that he's a judo champion, and has the medals to prove it. Meanwhile, Rita's flute skills improve instantly thanks to Angelo's new invention. This episode was originally broadcast on Thursday, 4th March, 1993. This is an excellent one, and there's a lot to unpack, with Mike evidently experiencing emotions he's never felt before. It's all acted extremely well, with perfectly believable jealousy and foul moods coming through, not to mention the misplaced bravado towards the end. I have to admit, I was expecting (semi-spoilers ahead) a 'weaker character thinks he has superpowers, defeats enemy, then finds he didn't have superpowers after all' type of ending, but of course not. That's been done a million times before in far lesser shows, and in a nutshell this is why I could never be a screenwriter. This takes an entirely different and less obvious approach, and although it all works out, it's not exactly plain sailing to that happy ending. The guest role is played by Nick Zwicky, and I haven't been able to track him down with any certainty. He's excellent in this, though, exuding all the necessary confidence the character would definitely have, and I hope he's doing all right for himself now.
