On the Buses. Series 1, Episode 2 - The New Conductor(1969) Stan is always nervous when he has a new conductor but this time he is in for a pleasant surprise! Further details Stan is on edge at the prospect of a new conductor but his fears melt away when he gets an attractive conductress called Iris. Even though she lands Stan in trouble with the Inspector they get on so well that romance may be in the air. However, a visit to the Butler house after their first date spells disaster with a combination of mum's bloomers, cocoa and kipper sandwiches sure to kill any passion!

Series 1, Episode 3 - Olive Takes A Trip Stan's job is made more difficult when Olive becomes a clippie aboard his bus... Further details Stan is in for a shock when Olive gets a job as a clippie at the bus depot. Things get even worse when she is put on his bus and disaster ensues. She proceeds to get trapped in the bus doors and suffers from travel sickness, but can Stan and mum stop Olive from getting the sack or will Stan's ingenuity save the day?
On The Buses, Series 1, Episode 4, Bus Drivers Stomach.
Stan's stomach pains are 'an occupational hazard' from sitting over a vibrating engine all day according to him, but Arthur has other ideas. Further details When Stan is troubled by stomach pains he insists it is an age-old complaint amongst bus drivers called 'Bus Drivers' Stomach', caused by sitting over the rumbling bus engine day-in, day-out. Arthur's less than convinced and blames his pains on a diet of chips; when he quotes some alarming facts from a book concerning eating habits, Stan is put on a diet. To make matters worse the management are seeking to remove all unfit drivers from their posts so it is imperative Stan passes the planned medical. Can he stick to the diet or will the call of the fryer win?

Series 1, Episode 5 - The New Inspector Stan applies for a promotion in hopes that he can buy his mum the new coat she needs, but he gets far more than just a raise when he's promoted to assistant inspector. Further details A job seen as a poisoned chalice becomes available at the bus depot as a vacancy for inspector arises. Stan and Jack won't touch it with a bargepole until Stan sees how much his mum would love a new coat that he can't afford. To buy her the coat he takes on the post as a new assistant inspector to earn more money but it also earns him aggravation and hatred from his work colleagues. Is it really all worth the hassle?

When the management hand over running the depot canteen to the staff, Stan is put in charge of organising a new cook. Blakey's quite keen on his first appointment, but no one else is! Further details The depot canteen enters a new era but is it a better era? The busmen get the chance to run the canteen themselves and Stan is put in charge. He soon runs into problems: appointing an Indian cook who only knows how to cook Indian-style, her spicy curry and teas are soon turning the busmen's stomachs. Stan has to find another option which won't be easy - especially when sister Olive puts herself forward for the job.

On The Buses Series 1, Episode 7 - The Darts Match.(1969) Stan and Jack have their masculinity threatened when they are challenged to a darts match by Iris and Jenny. Further details It's a battle of the sexes at the bus depot as Stan and Jack are challenged to a game of darts against clippies Jenny and Iris, an old flame of Stan's. In preparation for the big match, Stan comes across a number of setbacks as he ruins his favourite set of darts and has to familiarise himself with a new pack - Iris, meanwhile, is keen to put him off by making herself more familiar! Someone is going to end up a loser and it will be a costly experience.

Series 2, Episode 1 - Family Flu. Saturday 31st May 1969 Stan's exhaustion when the rest of the family fall ill is rewarded when he packs them all off to Aunt Maud's. If things aren't already bad enough with Mum and Olive bed-ridden with flu - leaving Stan and Arthur to cater for the invalids - they are about to get worse! Arthur also falls victim to the bug and Stan is left to shop, cook and wash-up for the family alone, as well as drive his bus all day. Some relief may be on the horizon as the family plan to visit Aunt Maud but surely it won't be as simple as that for Stan?

Saturday 7th June 1969 When Arthur acquires a second-hand motor cycle combination, Stan's reputation as an ace mechanic is soon put to the test. Arthur treats himself to a motorcycle combination which has seen better days; its condition leaves him open to ridicule from all quarters and the fact it came with an inadequate toolkit makes things worse. With Stan's help the motorbike soon becomes mobile, but during a test run the bike breaks down miles from home. Stan comes to the rescue but further mishaps land him in hot water at the bus depot.

Series 2, Episode 4 - Aunt Maud(1969) Dogs are only allowed to travel on the top deck of a bus, but when they are as big as Aunt Maud's 'pet', it is best that they should not travel at all... When Aunt Maud comes to visit the Butlers, the family are in for an uncomfortable time! She brings with her a large pet dog and asks Arthur and Olive embarrassing questions about their lack of a family - Stan, meanwhile, receives a grilling over his lack of a wife! The trouble doesn't end there for Stan as he is forced to sleep downstairs in an armchair and then has the task of trying to smuggle his aunt and her dog back to the train station aboard his bus.

On The Buses. Series 2, Episode 5 - Late Again(1969) When Stan is courting, it leads him into trouble at work. Jack tries to help him out, but conductors don't always know when to stop... Stan's love life and early shifts just don't mix; late nights out with his girlfriend mean he continually sleeps in and is late for his early shifts at work. Arthur, meanwhile, is fed up getting woken up by Stan's alarm and decides to do something about it, whilst at the depot Blakey is waiting to catch Stan arriving late. Even Jack can't save him when he climbs in through the ladies' toilet window in a bid to avoid the Inspector - will it cost him his job?
