Rising Damp S2E7 (Things That Go Bump in the Night)
After scaring the gullible Alan with a joke werewolf hand, Rigsby tries to spook him even more by telling him about the house ghost, the Grey Lady. Philip persuades Alan to put on a long dress and a bonnet to impersonate the ghost, to scare Rigsby, which he does on several occasions, including at a séance Philip has stage managed. Rigsby then calls in the vicar to exorcise the ghost but the vicar only catches Alan and Brenda kissing on the sofa. By this time Rigsby has found the dress and bonnet so that the Grey Lady makes one final appearance.
Rising Damp S2E3 (A Body Like Mine)
Rigsby is cynical when both Ruth and Alan get into physical fitness regimes but, having failed to open a pickle jar, which Philip does with ease, he is persuaded to take exercise to impress Ruth. This leads to a boxing match with Philip, Ruth promising to date the winner. Not being keen on this idea Philip throws the fight but Rigsby does his back in before he can take Ruth out so she whisks Philip away in his place.
Rising Damp S2E2 (Food Glorious Food)
Following an argument in which the tenants accuse him of being uncharitable for not wanting to contribute to Ruth's charity tin, Rigsby lectures Philip on the white man's bounties to Africa and explains how he fasted for a week in the desert in the war. Philip then challenges him to fast for forty-eight hours and confiscates his food. Rigsby attempts to cheat by stealing the cat's food and eating an apple from Ruth's room, which turns out to be wax. He gets Alan to put out leftovers for him, but Philip substitutes food that has gone off. Eventually Rigsby wins his bet but the fiver gets put into Ruth's tin after it is discovered that his previous contribution was a button from his cardigan.
Rising Damp S3E1 (That's My Boy)
Whilst Rigsby is on holiday in Spain, Alan lets a room to Mrs. Brent, whose husband is at sea, and her baby, despite the fact that Rigsby does not allow tenants with children. So, whilst Mrs. Brent looks for other accommodation, Alan tries to hide the baby but is discovered by Rigsby, who initially thinks the baby is Alan's. Ruth has returned and Alan and Philip give her the baby to mind, leading Rigsby to then think that Ruth is his mother, so he is shocked when she says she hardly knows the father and does not know the baby's name. Both Mr. and Mrs. Brent then return and Ruth, knowing Rigsby will do anything for her, tells them that he loves babies and that they can stay.
Rising Damp S3E7 (Suddenly at Home)
Rigsby's lodger Osborne is a pill-popping hypochondriac but, to Rigsby's annoyance, Ruth feels sorry for and spends time with him. One day Rigsby goes into Osborne's room to find his lifeless body and so arrangements are to be made for a funeral, Rigsby providing the coffin he had bought for himself. For a joke the boys dare him to get in the coffin and shut him in. When he gets out he sees Osborne alive and well - he had merely seemed dead due to his excess of pill-taking. Rigsby promptly collapses.
Rising Damp S3E5 (Fawcett's Python)
Exotic dancer Marilyn moves into the house with Charlie, a python that she uses in her routine. Although Charlie is harmless Philip persuades Rigsby that he is a Fawcett's python, one of the deadliest in the world. Of course he escapes and the boys scare Rigsby with a stuffed toy python. When Douglas the curate comes round for his singing practice with Ruth, Rigsby decides to play a joke on them with the toy python but of course he ends up handling Charlie.
Rising Damp S3E6 (The Cocktail Hour)
Alan is dating the upper class Caroline Armitage and, when Ruth says that Caroline's mother is a wealthy property owner, Rigsby is keen that Alan gets engaged to her so that he can benefit by it. He gives the lad lessons in etiquette in anticipation of a tea party for Mrs Armitage but is angry to find he has not been invited. When he crashes the party he discovers that Mrs. Armitage is the former Mabel Bagworthy, a common rag-and-bone man's daughter that he was at school with, who rode to school on her father's cart, and he takes great delight in telling everyone. Needless to say,the engagement is off.
Rising Damp S3E4 (The Good Samaritans)
The household goes on suicide watch when a new tenant, the depressive Mr. Gray, who has lost his wife and his business, becomes Rigsby's latest tenant. Ruth switches tea-cups with him when she sees him drop a tablet in his but it is only saccharin. Mr. Gray's behaviour leads Rigsby to get a man from the Samaritans to visit. Firstly he thinks Ruth is the depressive when he sees her with her head in the gas oven - which she is trying to fix. Later Mr. Gray climbs on the roof and Rigsby, to impress Ruth, goes up to talk him down. The Samaritan then assumes he is the suicide and, whilst Mr. Gray does come down, Rigsby falls off and has to go to hospital.
Rising Damp S3E2 (Stage Struck)
A very camp actor called Hilary moves into the house. He has written a play which he wants Ruth and Alan to perform. Rigsby is less than pleased to think that this will allow the long-haired student to share intimate moments with his beloved Miss Jones, so he appeals to Alan's homophobia and tells him that Hilary is gay, scaring Alan off which leads to Hilary asking Rigsby to replace him. Aware of what has gone on Hilary sits very near to Rigsby on the sofa and appears to make a pass at him, scaring Rigsby off from appearing in the play. however, when Hilary assumes the lead it is clear from his behaviour with Ruth that he is definitely not gay.
Rising Damp S4E5 (Under the Influence)
New lodger Ambrose claims to be a hypnotist and proves it by mesmerising Rigsby into regressing to his childhood - and undressing - in front of Ruth. To make things up to Rigsby, Ambrose hypnotises him into adopting a smooth persona to woo Ruth but she is not impressed. After Ruth has pretended to be hypnotised and chased after Rigsby for a joke, he decides he will do the same to her but the pretence is unmasked when she sticks a hat-pin in his bottom.
Rising Damp S4E1 (Hello Young Lovers)
Lorna and Robin are a young couple who come to stay and Ruth tells Rigsby they are newly-weds. He gives them presents but withdraws them when he finds out they are just living together. They explain that Lorna's stern father disapprove of Robin so - in the absence of Alan - Ruth and Philip ask the father round to discuss things. Due to a misunderstanding he is horrified to think that Rigsby might be his daughter's boyfriend and goes for him, switching his anger to Philip who comes in to rescue Rigsby. Rigsby explains that Philip would not want Lorna as he already has ten wives and the father is so grateful Lorna's beloved is neither Rigsby nor Philip that he accepts Robin.
Rising Damp S4E6 (Come on in the Water's Lovely)
After his divorce from Veronica comes through Rigsby proposes to Ruth - who accepts. His shifty brother Ron turns up to be the best man and Ruth's upper-crust mother initially mistakes him for the groom as he looks very smart. She does not believe that Ruth should marry Rigsby and tries to talk her out of it but seemingly in vain. On the day of the wedding the Rigsby brothers go to the wrong church and by the time they locate the right one the wedding party has gone home. He confesses this to Ruth, who admits that she had cold feet about their wedding and never went to the church in the first place.

Landlord Rigsby scams lodgers Cooper and Philip into sharing a room. His favorite tenant, Miss Jones, flirts with Philip, annoying Rigsby. When new lodger Seymour arrives, Miss Jones falls for him, leaving Rigsby's love for her unrequited.
On the Buses S6E1 (No Smoke Without Fire)
Following a fire in the depot's paint shop due to a carelessly dropped cigarette smoking is banned. This hits Stan hard especially when Arthur bets him that he cannot give up the weed and the two men vie to see who can hold out for the longest. Then Stan lights up on a bus,causing a fire,from which he rescues Blakey. The bus company however is pleased that the bus is destroyed as it was very old and the insurance - using the ploy that faulty wiring caused the spark - will pay for a new one.

Stingy, pretentious landlord Rigsby is looking for another lodger. One of his current lodgers, Miss Jones, is keen for her acquaintance, Philip, to move in—because she is attracted to him. He says that he is from Africa and is the son of a chief. He almost decides not to move in, due to the fact that he dislikes Rigsby and is not attracted to Miss Jones and was unaware that he would be living in close proximity to her.

Rigsby is sceptical but intrigued by a ritual which Philip shows him - banging his spear on the ground to summon a woman. When Philip does so, Miss Jones comes to the room. Rigsby's other lodger Alan later does so; Miss Jones comes in and hugs him in the dark, expecting it to be Philip; she is disappointed when she realises that it is Alan. Rigsby later does likewise, hoping it will attract Miss Jones - but is disappointed when Philip and Alan come to the room instead.

Rigsby, Alan, Philip and Ruth go out to an upmarket restaurant (which has a strict dress code) for Ruth's birthday. Rigsby borrows his new lodger Spooner's suit, without his permission - and Alan borrows Spooner's bow tie. Spooner shows up and angrily takes the tie from Alan and demands that Rigsby return the suit to him. Spooner rips the right sleeve off the suit. The restaurant's manager throws Rigsby and Alan out for being improperly dressed.

Alan wears an earring to attract the opposite sex, which Rigsby disapproves of. Alan sneaks Maureen into his room; Rigsby hears her and ejects her. Rigsby asks Miss Jones to a wrestling match, which she declines. Alan gives him some tablets and a Matt Monro LP, suggesting that he take one of the tablets and play the record whilst talking to her. Philip gives Rigsby a medallion to wear. After Rigsby leaves the room, Alan informs Philip that the tablets are tranquillisers which were withdrawn from the market because they turn the patients' urine green. Rigsby plays the record at the wrong speed, and she rejects his attempt to seduce her. He collapses and falls asleep for 24 hours. He sees a doctor, who tells him that the tablets are for pregnant women. Philip advises Rigsby to burn the wood of the love tree outside Miss Jones's room as an aphrodisiac. She finds the smell unpleasant, so she sprays Rigsby and the wood with water. Philip tells him that the piece of wood came off the wardrobe.

Spooner (Derek Newark) annoys the household by playing his radio loudly. Rigsby is annoyed, but finds it difficult to pluck up the courage to confront him about it. He fires his gun, which he wrongly believed was not loaded. He thinks that he shot Spooner through his door, but after going into Spooner's room he realises that he did not, but Spooner is angry about being disturbed.

Miss Jones sees a prowler through her window, and Rigsby suspects everyone else. A police detective appears and begins to investigate. When the real police arrive later, Rigsby realises that the detective was bogus - and that he stole Rigsby's cash which he had hid in a tin under the floorboards. It's election time and true blue Rigsby will be voting Conservative whilst the boys are flying the flag for Labour. Ruth is a floating voter. All three candidates visit the house, Rigsby antagonizing the Labour man by suggesting that he is a homosexual with a Filipino house-boy whilst Ruth scares off the Liberal hopeful by making advances at him. Finally the Conservative candidate comes in and, after his dog has fouled the carpet, he tells Rigsby he plans to knock his house down, ultimately recognizing Rigsby as the man who was barred from the Conservative Club Billiards Tournament for cheating. This makes Rigsby's mind up. He will be voting Labour.
Rising Damp S02E01 The Permissive Society HD
Alan and Philip return from an unsuccessful double date. Alan tells Philip that he is a virgin, and Philip says that he first had sex on his 14th birthday as part of his coming-of-age initiation. Alan encourages Rigsby to pursue Miss Jones. Philip advises Alan to pursue her. Alan goes into her room to make a move on her, but Rigsby enters the room before she sees Alan, so Alan hides in her wardrobe. She rejects Rigsby's advances. Rigsby hears Alan, and Ruth opens the wardrobe door. Seeing Alan, she is surprised and Rigsby is angry.

Philip wagers Rigsby £5 that he cannot fast for 48 hours. Philip gives him £5 for winning the bet, despite Rigsby having cheated by having eaten food which he thought was left for him by Alan - but was actually leftovers left by Philip for Vienna. Miss Jones takes Rigsby's winnings to give to famine relief, which she is collecting for.

Miss Jones and Alan decide to get into shape. Rigsby claims to be fit, but feels inadequate when he is unable to open a jar for Miss Jones, but Philip is. Rigsby starts improving his fitness, then challenges Philip to a boxing match. After Philip accepts his challenge, Rigsby is horrified to find out from Alan that Philip is a competent boxer. Miss Jones says that she will go out with the winner. Philip deliberately loses in order to avoid a date with Miss Jones. Rigsby strains his back whilst weight training, so he cannot go on the date. Philip goes on the date with Miss Jones.

Ruth gets engaged to short but romantic Desmond and Rigsby is jealous. The boys suggest he compete by reciting poetry to her but she feels he is mocking her and announces that she will be moving out to live with Desmond. Rigsby tries to put Desmond off by claiming that Ruth is an alcoholic who can get violent but Desmond's love for Ruth means that he can take this in his stride and Ruth leaves the house, having caught Rigsby trying to chat up Brenda, an artists' model and potential new tenant - by quoting the same poetry that he used with her.

New lodger Seymour (Henry McGee) preys on Rigsby's gullibility by conning him out of money by recommending he buys shares in an oil company which drills in the Pennines. Seymour tells Rigsby that he is inviting the mayor to the boarding house and asks Rigsby to give him money to buy champagne for dinner with the mayor. When Philip tells him that Seymour has left permanently, Rigsby realises that Seymour is a conman, that the mayor is not coming and that the shares he 'bought' on Seymour's recommendation do not exist.

Rising Damp S02E07 Things That Go Bump In Night HD
Alan and Brenda return to the house from the cinema, where they saw Doctor Zhivago together. Rigsby tries to scare Alan with a ghost story about 'the Grey Lady'. At Philip's suggestion, Alan wears a dress in the house at night to pose as the Grey Lady to scare Rigsby. Rigsby believes it to be the Grey Lady and brings a vicar and curate to the house to exorcise the ghost. When Rigsby finds the dress that Alan wore, he wears it to pretend to be the Grey Lady, and is seen by the vicar (Norman Bird) and curate (David Rowlands), who angrily walk out.
